Bleh!

I have AP Euro homework. *sigh* Reading and tracing a map... Not fun. *rolls eyes*

Here's my AP Euro paper I wrote... I was gonna post it yesterday, but I forgot. *sweatdop*

The outbreak of the plague from the mid-fourteen to eighteen centuries affected many people. The plague brought about many responses from the people of that time period. Because the Europeans didn't understand the cause of the plague, many beliefs were made about the origin of the plague and how to get rid of it. Among those beliefs laid many concerns.

Various beliefs stemmed from the plague, including the decent and ways to liberate the plague. In a letter written by Erasmus of Rotterdam, he wrote that the plague was "due to the filth in the streets and the sputum and dogs' urine clogging the rushes on the floors of the houses" (Document 02). People nailed up the houses of the infected and the houses of which an infected person visited, letting the people inside starve to death (Document 05). H. de Rochas, a French physician, believed that by hanging toads -- dead or alive -- around their necks, their venom would draw out the poison from the dieased within a few days (Document 10). M. Bertrand, another physician, believed the plague was created by "an angry God over a sinful and offending people rather than as a calamity proceeding from common and natural causes" (Document 16). Others also believed in religion, such as housewife, Lisabetta Centenni. She said her husband had a malignant fever and was sure that he'd die, but "Sister Angelica del Macchina, prioress at Crocetta, sent [me] a little piece of bread that had touched the body of St. Domenica. [I] feed it to [my] husband and suddenly the fever broke" (Document 07).

Numerous were concerned when the plague came. Young and rich fled, not wanting to get infected, leaving mostly the poor to suffer from the diease (Documents 01 and 03). However, because those countless people were trying to escape, the plague spread even futher. All roads and highways were guarded because of this, so no one could pass from one place to another (Document 05). Most travelers didn't even risk coming to visit Rome (Document 12). France, Holland, Spain, and Italy, among others, would not admit ships, stopping foregin exports, adn later, general trades in manufactured goods (Document 14). No one bought wigs, fearing the hair had come from the people who had died from the plague (Document 13). Dozens of people were greedy, taking advantage of the plague. Heirs paid people to smear the gates of Casale with ointment to spead the plague, hoping to obtain their inheiritance more quickly (Document 04). Nurses took on jobs and made patients die quicker in order to collect the fee they had agreed on (Document 11). Because the outbreak of the plague killed many, people suffered with the knowledge that they may be next. Nehemiah Wallington is a perfect example of one of those people. In his diary, he wrote that while meditating alone, he would think to himself, "What if the sickness should come into this house? Who whould I be willing to give up to the diease?" (Document 08).

The plague destroyed at least one third of Western European's population. Because the plague was so deadly, and the people of the time period did not have the technology to know that the cause of the plague was bacterial infection from fleas, many feared infection and their ultimate death. Numerous "cures" were made, although most didn't work. Others took advantage of the situation to gain wealth. Regardless, the plague spread and killed about 80 percent of those infected.

Today was a late start, so that was good... Didn't start school 'til 10:00...

In second period, we had to clean out the storage garages. =P Which means I didn't do jack while the guys did everything. *grin* I talked to Saul about Harry Potter #5 for a little bit... Watched Tito, Mark, and Saul destroy two old ladders... Talked to C.J. for a while, and I think that's about it. ^_^

Third period, we had to edit four people's papers.... The grades they gave me were a "9", a "8.5", a "7", and a "8". That's outta 9, if ya didn't know. ^_^ So I guess mine was good-ish... even if I don't think so. *shrugs*

Fourth period we talked about matter. Drew and Eric N. kept joking about it, lol. Ever time when Mr.Fearnow asked who thought (blank) was not matter, they'd raise their hands, and when he calls them to answer why they didn't think it was matter, they'd be like, "Oh, I thought you said 'who thinks (blank) doesn't matter'". =P

I "beat up" Mark because he was making fun of me. *rolls eyes* It's cause the teacher asked me what was the best way (outta the list on the board) was to tell what was matter, and I said "solid, liquid, or gas" and the teacher asked why and I replied that you could see it. Mark then kept asking me if you could see fart and stuff. *rolls eyes* Guys are such idiots like that. =P

Going to the dentist tomorrow... I want my braces to come off! Why can't they take it off?! >_<

Gotta go now... gonna avoid my homework til last minute though. =P
