Medusa lost her good looks and gained a waving mess of snakes for hair and a gaze that could turn anyone to stone. Perseus slew Medusa, chopped off her head and used it to defeat the monster Chrysaor. Medusa’s sisters, the Gorgons, tried to get their revenge on Perseus but could never find him.
