- EMPLOYED!
FUCK YEAH, got the Project Manager job that I went to interview for! \o/ They called me last night around 7:30PM and left me a message. I called them back this morning to talk about it and yeah, I start on Monday! SO SOON! But they really need the help, I guess. But yeah, I'm sad that I can't sleep in anymore! (And that I will have to actually go to sleep at a decent hour instead of 1-2AM, lol.) I'll definitely miss sitting around doing nothing but reading fic and watching videos all day, but at least I have a job now! YAY! The only really crappy thing is traffic though. =/ I wish I work was in the opposite direction of traffic, but alas, I don't have good luck likeaznearthdragon in these matters.
- MARIANAS TRENCH
I finally got around to downloading/listening to Marianas Trench's most recent album! (Okay, it totally came out, like, five months ago, but it totally slipped my mind!) Good thing Marianas Trench came up on shuffle the other day! XD Anyway, the new album, Ever After, is pretty awesome. I was kinda worried that it wouldn't be able to measure up to Masterpiece Theatre (since that album is freakin' awesome) and, honestly, it's not as good, but it's definitely a solid album (especially if you don't compare it to its predecessor). Definitely recommend if you like rock/pop kinda stuff -- it's a bit more pop-ish than Masterpiece Theatre, which I thought did a good job of balancing the two, but yeah. (And, if you like rock/pop and have never heard of Marianas Trench, you should definitely get Masterpiece Theatre because it is amazing, seriously!) - BOWLING
Went bowling today with the family today. It's been a while since I've gone, so I was kinda rusty. My mom was really good, even though she hasn't been bowling in forever, LOLOL. I was actually doing well in the beginning (was pretty much competing with my mom for first place), but it kinda went downhill near the end, LOL. My brother was the most fail out of all of us andaznearthdragon ended up doing did slightly better than him, haha. My dad was pretty sucky too in the beginning, but somehow he ended up beating me by, like a point or two, lol.

Happy Lunar New Year!
So far today seems like a good start for the new year because I got a call for a job interview on Wednesday! (Well, they called me last Thursday about an interview, but I had to ask them to reschedule because I've been called to go to jury duty on Friday.) It's another CAD job at an engineering firm, but hopefully it goes well. It's kinda far from my house, but still, a job is a job and I can't be too picky, lol.
In other news, today is the first day of Mesa and

- AN ARTICLE! Unemployment Soars Among College Majors Like Architecture, which includes the best first line ever!
If you want the best odds of getting a job after graduation, don't major in architecture.
Apparently the unemployment rate for architecture is 13.9%. Awesome! x_x (aznearthdragon sent me the link this morning, so it was the first thing I read when I got up. You can imagine my motivation level for job hunting afterwards, lol.) [ETA]: Here's the article on ArchDaily with the PDF of the full report.
- TUTORING! In other news,
aznearthdragon got me an interview at some tutoring place for Saturday morning! She went in today after she was done with work and she said it didn't go so well for her since she wasn't prepared. =/ Anyway,
aznearthdragon said I need to brush up on my pre-calc and calculus. Kkinda sucks since I haven't really done math in forever, but whatever, I'll review tomorrow and we'll see how it goes. Hopefully things work out so I can actually make some money while I'm looking for an actual job in my field.

First, she had a job interview in the morning. The brother and I said we would go there with her and wait in the car while she went in, so we did, and then 40 minutes later, she comes back out and tells us they hired her on the spot! \o/ Then later, when we came home, she saw some people posting on FB about the EIT, so she went to check her account and found out that that she passed! *\o/* And finally, we were playing Monopoly earlier and she somehow managed to have more money than the bank, including all the $500s by near the end, and winning the game! I guess when life goes well for her, it goes all out, LOL.
I'm just waiting for some good luck to come to me now. =/
aznearthdragon starts work next Tuesday, but my brother is still on break until after New Years. After that, though, I'm gonna be home all alone. =( I hope I can find a job soon because I'm starting to lose confidence in myself. =/

Thanks for the luck, guys! I think the interview went okay, but I think I did bad-ish on the CAD test. x_x I only got about halfway through it. I mean, I got through the instructions, but the instructions weren't that good to begin with (and I probably wasted a lot of time rereading some of it trying to figure out what they meant) and the last instruction was to draw the changes on the right layers and that's when I ran out of time. =/ It just sucks 'cause you know everyone has their AutoCAD set up differently and when it's not set up the way you like it, it's hard to find things! And there were only 30 minutes, so I didn't want to waste the time just getting situated and stuff, you know? Plus, I would have felt bad for messing with the way things were set-up since it wasn't my CAD station. I can only hope that the other two people they interviewed for the position did worse than I did. But yeah, I just have to stop thinking or I might get depressed or something, lol.

YAY INTERVIEW!
Nov. 9th, 2011 04:04 pmI have an interview tomorrow! It's for a CAD drafter/admin assistant position at an engineering firm, but I think I have a good shot of getting it, so we'll see..! =)

Job Hunting, Zaha, and Essay Writing
Nov. 7th, 2011 11:32 pm- So I actually got a response back for one of the jobs I applied for on Craigslist. I'm kind of surprised because I've never gotten a response back from a Craigslist ad before, but yeah. I don't even know if I want it because the place is kind of far away, the pay is pretty low, it's a real estate assistant position, and, honestly, I never even expected them to contact me back, LOL. But whatever, I'll respond back to them in the morning and see how it goes from there.
- Apparently Zaha Hadid is going to build her house in La Jolla. I think a 12,700 square foot house seems just a bit excessive, but she's a starchitect, she has the money to do what she wants. As for the design, I'm not really a fan. From the aerial and kind-of street-view looks okay, but I don't like the first/side rendering at all.
- My brother has been in the mists of college application essay writing and
aznearthdragon and I have been helping him for the last few weeks. He's so needy, I feel like I've written most of his essays for him. x_x

- I've been reading a lot of WIPs lately which is horrible since I hate having to wait for more, but I'm just really bad at telling myself not to read, lol. It's also making me feel weird because now I don't really have fics to rec since I generally dislike reccing WIPs. IDK, I just don't like subjecting people to possibly abandoned fics or the possibility that the story might go into DNW territory in the future because sometimes that happens. =/
- I hate when you go and apply for a job online and they say upload/paste your resume, but they only accept text or Word files! I mean, I should really just make a nicely formatted text version of my resume, with all the time I spend C&Ping the stupid thing into boxes and then fixing them to look not-horrible. But still, SO ANNOYED! It's like, PDFs are freakin' universally accepted and I am the anal type who wants my resume to look the fucking same anytime you view it! Also, I spent the time formatting it to look just the way I wanted it in InDesign and having to submit a Word file (which, to me, is worse then C&Ping text) totally defeats the purpose of having a nicely formatted resume! x_x (Which is to say, I applied for a job and said company emailed me back asking specifically for a Word version of my resume and I've been putting it off because I'm lazy, but I'm gonna get around to it after this, but really, if you want a Word doc, WHY DOES YOUR UPLOAD THING LET ME CHOOSE A PDF FILE?!)
- A survey thing, because I'm totally easy when it comes to these things.

aznearthdragon won some tickets to Sea World for this weekend, so we're going on Sunday since she has her EIT on Saturday. =)

Meme, Top Ramen, and Job Hunting
Oct. 24th, 2011 10:28 pm- Everyone was doing it on Tumblr, so I figured, why not?
I suppose this is mostly accurate, except for my age.
I think it's funny that the age basically has the same percentage for 13-17, 18-25, and 26-35, and that 36-50 only beat out those three ranges by just a bit more.
( And just for completeness, my tumblrs... ) - Recently I've been thinking about eating raw Top Ramen and how that was the snack to eat during recess back in elementary school. (At least it was at my elementary school, LOL.) I remember it being really good and that the chicken flavor tasted the best and I kinda crave it now, except not really because I'm generally not a fan of instant ramen. XP But seriously, raw Top Ramen! You should try it if you never have, lol. XP
- In other news, I am still trying to find a job and job hunting still sucks. =/ I want to be optimistic, but it's hard when 95% of the jobs I've apply to never even respond back. I mean really, I'd rather get a stupidly generic rejection email than nothing at all! =(((( Anyway, if you know of any entry-level architecture or anything even remotely construction-related jobs in the San Diego area, please send that info my way. (I should probably expand my search outside of SD, but I'm still holding onto my hopes of finding something here!)

Boring me is boring.
Aug. 21st, 2011 11:35 am- Yesterday, my dad was looking though our cabinet of DVDs and he saw Fantastic Four and he was like, "Fantastic Four -- where is Fantastic One, Two, and Three?" ♥
- Went to my cousin's bridal shower last weekend and at one point, we were playing some purse game where they say an item and your table has to find it (from their purses) and be the first to give it to the person. Somehow, I was designated runner for our table. Sadly our table didn't win, but the next day, I saw there was a bruise on my leg and I suspect that it came from the running, 'cause I do remember running into a couple of chairs, lol. Anyway, it's, like, almost a week later and I still have the bruise, but it looks darker? IDK, but I hope it goes away soon 'cause it's really noticeable when I'm wearing shorts/skirts/skorts which is pretty much everyday since it's summertime.
- Last week,
aznearthdragon and I went to a few staffing agencies. I got a call from one of them about a job I applied for a few weeks ago and I met with the recruiter to talk about it, but I dunno if anything will come from it. I mean, it was a Revit drafting job and I would like to think that I'm pretty good at Revit, but who knows. I quickly threw together a portfolio of renderings to send to the recruiter guy, so we'll see. It kind of sucks for
aznearthdragon though, 'cause she met with the same recruiter when we went into the agency and he was totally focused on Revit with her too even though that obviously wasn't her thing (I mean, she majored in engineering! You would think he would ask her more about engineering related things...). He told her to send him a PDF of her renderings too, even though she told him she hadn't used Revit in a few years, so she spent the last couple of days fixing up a few of her old Revit projects (with my help) to re-render and put something together. (I have to say that Revit's rendering engine has TOTALLY improved since Revit 6.1, LOLOLOL.
aznearthdragon showed me her old renderings from high school and it was kind of hilarious. XP) But yeah, hopefully I will be able to get a job soon -- I'm SO over job hunting. x_x
I wish there were more exciting things happening in my life, but alas, job hunting just isn't very exciting.

I wish there were more exciting things happening in my life, but alas, job hunting just isn't very exciting.
It's been a while since I last posted! IDK, I always have moments where I'm like, "Oh, I will post about this or that!" and then when I actually get back to the computer, I totally forget about it -- you know how it is. XP But seriously, I've been living a pretty laid back and boring life since I'm done with school and am just looking for a job. (Job searching sucks, yo.) Anyway, let's do this in bullets! More things will probably come to me that way. XD
So that's pretty much it for now...
- JOB HUNTING!
So this is probably more difficult than expected probably because there simply aren't that many jobs for me here in SD and when I do find something relivant, they want experience. I mean, I probably would have more options if I branched out, but I just don't have the money to move/live somewhere else right now. Also, there's the fact that I actually DO want to stay in SD, so yeah. -_- I will just continue looking and hopefully findsomething; at this point, I don't really care if I get a job in an architecture firm, I just want a job somewhere within the construction industry. (And really, I wouldn't mind an administrative assistant job in a construction firm because I am bomb at admin-type stuff and they make more money than I would probably get an entry/junior architect job, lol.) - ACCREDITATIONS/CERTIFICATIONS!
aznearthdragon and I are going to a LEED Green Associate study group thing. First meeting was Tuesday evening, next one is tonight, and then the last two meetings are next week. So yeah, I basically decided yesterday that I was going to take the LEED GA test because I have nothing else to do and it'll probably help me find a job. I'm thinking that August would be a good time to take it -- one month to study, lol. It would be tempting to put it off for more study time, but really, I don't know how to study like that. If I took longer than a month on studying, I feel like I'll probably just forget stuff from the beginning and it'd be an endless cycle. Hopefully I pass on the first try b/c I don't want to pay to take it a second time!
In the same vein, I also decided that I'm just gonna suck it up and take the CDT at the end of September! I've seriously been putting that one off for too long, I should have done it last year, but I didn't end up studying. x_x Anyway, I was looking it up and apparently this upcoming test will be switching to the new material and I am kind of annoyed because I already bought the PRM before and I don't really want to buy the new book that this test will be based off of. I'm still trying to decide if it's worth it to buy the new book ($75) or just study off of what I have and hope that it's good enough to pass. Whatever, I suppose I will just study off what I have for now until I get to the point when I'm too freaked out about possible outdated material -- if I don't get to that point, then I won't buy the book, LOL. XP - LULU!
So Lulu.com is having a First Book Free sale going on until the end of July, which I only found out about yesterday (sadness, I had half a month I could have been dedicating to this!), so now I'm actually motivated to make my thesis book which our class didn't have to make! Seriously, I'm kind of bummed that I didn't actually make a book (not that I want to turn in a book, but you know, it would have been nice to have been forced to do it so I would have something), but now that I can get it for free, I have motivation again to actually do it! Hopefully I'll be able to get it all done and have it look good. Also, I need to fix up my portfolio a bit, then I'll probably publish that too just so I can get a free copy of it. XP - FRIENDS WITH BENEFITS!
Moving on from boring life stuff, last weekaznearthdragon and I went to a screening of Friends With Benefits and it is super hilarious. This seems to be the year for friends with benefits kind of thing since No Strings Attached came out earlier in the year too, but I haven't seen that. Justin Timberlake and Mila Kunis seems to be a better couple (to me) than Ashton Kutcher and Natalie Portman anyway. XP (But how confusing is it that the other movie was called No Strings Attached and JT wasn't in it?!) Anyway, I'll just say that the trailer (linked above) is pretty much a collection of almost all of the amazingly hilarious (and embarrassing) scenes from the movie. (Sadly, the scene with the mom on the guy was left out which is sad because how awesome (and embarrassing) would that moment have been?!)
So, you know, if you are inclined to watch ridiculous rom-coms, you should definitely check it out when it comes out later in July. (Or you can try and get into a screening of it because getting to watch movies for free before they come out is obviously the best way to watch movies, right? XP)
And for the people who have already seen it... ( I have a question! ) - GOOGLE+!
So the other day, Google+ was unveiled! It looks pretty cool -- I really want an invite to try it out, lol. The thing that sounds the most cool to me is the Hangouts thing because that just sounds like an awesome idea and way better than regular video chat in that I am actually likely to use it, as opposed to regular video chat, which I can honestly say I've only used twice in my life (first was to test out my webcam when I got this laptop, since my old one didn't have a webcam, and second so one of my friends could test out the Google video chat since he never tried it before). So yeah, if any of you guys have one, please send an invite my way and I'd be eternally grateful! ♥♥ - COACH PURSE!
Tuesday before going to the LEED GA meeting, aznearthdragon and I went to meet one of my cousins so she could give us our graduation gifts.
aznearthdragon's is the same, but in brown/beige.
It's nice, but I don't really know when I would use it because I'm not really into designer stuff and I buy, like, cheap purses, LOL. Like, the green one that I've been using (that I posted before in the bag meme way back when) was $5.70 on clearance at Kohl's! But whatever, new purse! =)
So that's pretty much it for now...
