- MESA!
Had my Chinese oral final on Tuesday and had my Chinese written final on Thursday, so officially done with Mesa for the semester! \o/ The oral wasn't too bad, but I keep getting corrected on my second tone because apparently I don't go up all the way. x_x The written final was okay too, but the professor made it super tricky! The worst question had to be on the first reading comprehension section. The narrative was about a guy who lives in America and works in America (at his house and his dad's house) and in China. It went something like, "On Mondays and Thursdays, Wang Peng works at home. On Thursdays and Sundays, he works at his dad's house. On Wednesdays and Saturdays, he works in China." and it also said the times he goes to work. (On two of the days, he goes to work at 6AM; on two days, he goes to work at 11:15AM; on two days, he goes to work at 3PM. Then the last question of the section was like, "Which days should Wang Peng's girlfriend go to his house if she wants to dance with him in the mornings?"
Seriously? How do you answer this correctly?!
I decided she could definitely go on Tuesday, since he doesn't work that day. Then I decided that on the days that he works in the afternoons, she could go over too. And I decided that 11:15AM was late enough that it doesn't count as morning. But then I eliminated the two days that he works in China, even though one of them could have fit into the morning criteria, because I was thinking, "He has to travel to China! He won't be home in the morning!" but really, he works in China on two random days that aren't even consecutive, so maybe the professor doesn't expect logic to apply! So ridiculous! x_x - WORK!
This upcoming week will be ONE MONTH since I started working! \o/ So weird, LOL! I haven't really talked about work here, but I like my job. It's not really hard and I enjoy the people I work with, so it's good. =) The bosses want to move to an office before their kids get out of school for summer, but I dunno if we'll even be able to do that since they haven't even found office space for us yet. (I think I mentioned it before, but just in case I didn't, we're currently working out of their house, lol.) - AVENGERS
Finally went to watch Avengers today withaznearthdragon and the brother! Pretty much everyone has watched it already, but we were holding off until we were done with Mesa to go. Anyway, it was pretty awesome! ♥
- VELLUM / BOOKSHELF!
So late, but I finally added my Vellum project to my online portfolio today! Seriously, I am a ridiculous person, LOL. I mean, I told myself I would add it after I took pictures of it, but yeah... I took pictures of the bookshelf back in JULY last year and now, TEN MONTHS LATER, I finally get around to photoshopping the photos I took and uploading them to my website. *sweatdrop* Total fail, lololol. Anyway, here are some actual NICE pictures of my bookshelf!
Please ignore the book selection, LOL. I mean, I wanted a bunch of different sized books, especially really tall ones for the tall sections, but I was limited to the books I had with me when I went to take photos. So, you know, random architecture books I had, a bunch of Arch Record magazines, and some of the books I read or was reading at the time, LOL. XP Still amazed that I actually built this thing from scratch all by myself! @_@ (And now it is sitting in my garage at home because there isn't really any space to put it in the house, LOL.)
- SNOWBOARDING!
On Sunday, I went snowboarding at Snow Summit withaznearthdragon, her boyfriend, and our brother. Let me just say that I pretty much sucked ass at it, LOLOLOLOL. I couldn't get up from a sitting position, I was way too scared going down the slopes, and I always made myself fall because I felt like I was going too fast and I couldn't figure out how to slow down. x_x
Later on in the afternoon, me andaznearthdragon decided to do the lessons because we had it complementary (
aznearthdragon won our tickets from the radio) and I was pretty much the lamest person in our "beginner" group. (Honestly, those people might have been "beginners", but they weren't true beginners like me, LOLOLOL.) But it's okay because every group needs a person like me to make everyone else feel better about their performance. XP
I don't really feel like I learned anything in the lessons because even though the instructor told us how to do stuff, I pretty much couldn't do it, LOLOLOLOL. And near the end, it was time to practice going down the slopes and I totally needed help, so the instructor went with me. On our last run down, I couldn't really control the speed, so we were going SUPER FAST and the instructor guy couldn't slow us down either, then I lost my balance and totally landed on my tailbone, but since I was holding hands with the instructor, I totally yanked him down with me! I was so scared he was going fall on me and it was going to be over, since he was bigger than me, but luckily he caught himself on his hands above me instead of crushing me. That was when I decided I had enough, since it was kinda close to closing time anyway, LOL. Plus, that fall was really hard and the last couple of days, it's been hurting so much I can't even lay down on my back, but it's finally starting to hurt less, so yeah. - SHIT ARCHITECTURE PROFESSORS SAY!
I saw someone post this video on FB and thought it was hilarious/so true. XP
There was also Shit Architecture Students Say, which is pretty funny too. XP

- AN ARTICLE! Unemployment Soars Among College Majors Like Architecture, which includes the best first line ever!
If you want the best odds of getting a job after graduation, don't major in architecture.
Apparently the unemployment rate for architecture is 13.9%. Awesome! x_x (aznearthdragon sent me the link this morning, so it was the first thing I read when I got up. You can imagine my motivation level for job hunting afterwards, lol.) [ETA]: Here's the article on ArchDaily with the PDF of the full report.
- TUTORING! In other news,
aznearthdragon got me an interview at some tutoring place for Saturday morning! She went in today after she was done with work and she said it didn't go so well for her since she wasn't prepared. =/ Anyway,
aznearthdragon said I need to brush up on my pre-calc and calculus. Kkinda sucks since I haven't really done math in forever, but whatever, I'll review tomorrow and we'll see how it goes. Hopefully things work out so I can actually make some money while I'm looking for an actual job in my field.

Job Hunting, Zaha, and Essay Writing
Nov. 7th, 2011 11:32 pm- So I actually got a response back for one of the jobs I applied for on Craigslist. I'm kind of surprised because I've never gotten a response back from a Craigslist ad before, but yeah. I don't even know if I want it because the place is kind of far away, the pay is pretty low, it's a real estate assistant position, and, honestly, I never even expected them to contact me back, LOL. But whatever, I'll respond back to them in the morning and see how it goes from there.
- Apparently Zaha Hadid is going to build her house in La Jolla. I think a 12,700 square foot house seems just a bit excessive, but she's a starchitect, she has the money to do what she wants. As for the design, I'm not really a fan. From the aerial and kind-of street-view looks okay, but I don't like the first/side rendering at all.
- My brother has been in the mists of college application essay writing and
aznearthdragon and I have been helping him for the last few weeks. He's so needy, I feel like I've written most of his essays for him. x_x

- Yesterday, I saw this on tumblr and cracked up:
The Duck and the Decorated Shed!
I totally felt like a nerd, but whatever, LOLOLOL. I also looked at the other costumes in that post, but they definitely weren't as awesome as this. XP - I was rereading that one Steve/Daria fic and it is still one of the greatest things ever, LOLOLOL. There should be, like, a million fics about Daria being her cynical self and Steve being his adorably dorky self and people being confused about their totally ridiculous yet charming relationship so that I can read it forever! XD
- Belated Project Runway reaction commentary: Anya winning? Totally obvious from the first episode. As for Viktor, he should have won since he was the most consistent designer this season, but I can understand why he didn't since he totally killed himself with those stupid sheer things. x_x I actually liked most of Kimberly's collection, so I was kinda annoyed that she was in the bottom. As for Josh, I pretty much hated almost everything in his collection besides the draped purple dress, so there was lots of rage that it was between him and Anya, but I'd rather have Anya win than him, so thank goodness for that! (But seriously, what the fuck were those green shorts he made at the last minute with the stupid lacing on the front? Because that was hideous and when it got all the praises from the judges, I just wanted to yell at them because EWWW!)
- In other news, I just watched last night's episode of Glee and, as usual, I was reminded that I still hate this show. (And yet, I still watch it -- UGH, WHY CAN'T I QUIT YOU?!) Anyway, Quinn setting up Shelby to try and get Beth back? NOT COOL! Santana and Mercedes being total bitches to Sugar Motta? NOT COOL! Finn being an asshole to Blaine? DEFINITELY NOT COOL! Also, WTF PUCK AND SHELBY, WHYYYYYY!

- PASSED THE CDT! I got 77/100 on it, which is pretty close since you need 75 to pass, but whatever! At least that's over. XP
aznearthdragon won four tickets to the Taste of North Park thing today. The parents, brother, and
aznearthdragton are there now. I was left out since I had my stupid test today. =( Now I'm just being a loser at home alone. =/
- Apparently last night was a dinner thing for my uncle's wedding, which we did not go to because it was in LA and I had my stupid test scheduled for today. Of course, we only found this out yesterday, when one of our cousins posted up a picture on FB. I mean, we knew that there was a dinner on Friday, because earlier in the week, one of my aunts-in-law called us about it, but we didn't know it was for my uncle's wedding! So after we saw the pic on FB, we asked our mom about it and she was basically like, "Oh yeah, I didn't tell you? I was talking to your dad about it, I thought you guys would know too!" Oh parents, lol. ♥
- Our parents told us we were going to up to LA on Sunday earlier this week too, basically the day after my parents declined the Friday dinner thing. So here we were thinking this whole week that we'd just be going up on Sunday to hang out because we were going to miss the dinner on Friday, but turns out, Sunday is another wedding dinner thing, this time for one of my cousins! @_@ Of course we just found this out last night as well. Anyway, now we're just wondering if we're suppose to dress up or whatever, LOL.
aznearthdragon was texting with our cousin who posted the FB pic yesterday and she said that everyone there was dressed normal, LOL, but our mom says to "dress up a little", so IDK. Our family, full of communication issues and last minute invites. ♥

Delicious, Project Runway, Glee, and CDT
Sep. 27th, 2011 10:21 pm- Bookmarking! New Delicious is lame. Not that I've really been using Delicious much, but seriously, who revamps a site with the lost of all useful functionality? x_x Anyway, my Pinboard is here, if you are so inclined, and there is also The Great Delicious Migration spreadsheet, if you need to find people.
- Project Runway! Can I just say the past two episodes totally pissed me off with all the whining about not-model-sized models? Because seriously, none of the models were what you would even consider fat! But most especially Olivier's complaining -- his was the worst, OMG! I didn't know whether to laugh at him or be filled with rage, so it was basically a combination of both. When he was making his comment about boobs, I was totally going FUCK YOU in my mind. Let's not even talk about when he basically told the dude from the band that he was fat to his face. >O But yeah, all the designs from the last episode were horrible and the only redeeming value to the whole thing was Adam Lambert. Also, while I'm at it, the episode before, why the fuck did Josh win with his little black dress? I was so annoyed by that! Obviously Viktor should have won; his outfit was the cutest! I didn't even understand the judges comments about her being over-accessorized because the purse and sunglasses (which they were complaining about) are basically essentials! x_x Anywayz, I'm totally rooting for either Viktor or Anya to win.
- Glee! I'm pretty annoyed with Kurt right now. I mean, the scene with Kurt and Blaine in the coffee shop in the first episode was cute, but I didn't like how Kurt was trying to talk Blaine into transferring to McKinley. It just felt so manipulative and then Blaine actually did transfer and it just doesn't sit well with me that Blaine basically transfered schools to be with Kurt. I mean, I've always been against boyfriends/girlfriends deciding to go to the same college just to be together, so of course this mentality follows through for Blaine transferring just for Kurt. IDK, I was just really annoyed. =( At least there was Blaine and Santana dancing together, which made the Blaine/Santana BFF lover in me happy. XP ( Spoiler-cut for the second episode... )
- CDT! I am trying to study, but it's SO HARD! The internet is just so distracting, LOLOLOL. But seriously, I only have about 1.5 weeks left before I take the test and I basically have the entire book to read still. =( I suppose the only good thing I have going for me is that I finished reading the AIA A201 and that a big chunk of the test (from what I've read) comes from that document, so yay for that. But yeah, I'm trying to actually study instead of reading fic, so there probably won't be any fic recs coming until after I take the test.

- I have spent too much time these past few weeks watching House Hunters and House Hunters International. That is the only explanation for why I feel all excited about getting my own house someday, lol. Sadly that is SUPER far away since I have no money, no job, and no one to settle down with. x_x
- Song on repeat for the past few weeks: Patrick Stump - This City. ♥ I was playing it off YouTube for the longest time, but I finally downloaded it when it was the iTunes Single of the Week the other day. XD Even so, I still end up playing it on YT, lol, probably because I've had that tab open this whole time. XP Why isn't his album out yet?!
- I've neglected my studying for the CDT, but I really need to crack down and read the stupid book! =/ I made a schedule for myself last week of the pages I need to read each day, but sadly I'm, like, a week behind, LOL. Darn internet and TV and everything else in the world being so much more interesting than studying!
- I've pretty much read almost all the fics listed as Steve/Tony on AO3. This probably shows my priorities, lol, considering how much of the CDT book I have not read in comparsion. *sweatdrop* I'm excited for the Big Bang fics coming in September -- I love long fics the most. ♥
aznearthdragon is listening to some old 90s Cantopop right now -- oh nostalgia! ♥♥

This week, in no particular order...
aznearthdragon and I took then LEED Green Associate exam today and we both passed! XD I got 185/200 -- I assume that means I got 15 wrong (?) which is pretty close to what I was expecting (counted five I didn't know and twelve I was unsure of), so YAY!
- I got my diploma in the mail this week! I was going to scan it to stick in this post, but then I got lazy. XP But yeah, after I opened the envelope and saw my diploma, I was like, "Five years, and this is all I get to show for it?" -- I'm sure that's the typical reaction though, lol. In the words of one of my FB friends a few weeks ago (paraphrased): I wish we got job offer instead of a diploma after graduation. Life would be so much easier that way. (Which is to say, I'm still job hunting 'cause I, sadly, didn't get that one job I went to interview for. =/ )
- Went to a screening of 30 Minutes or Less on Wednesday. I thought the movie was okay, but there were times where I was like, "Uhh, this part seems unnecessarily vulgar..." but yeah, maybe it's just me. Whatever, I only wanted to watch it for Jesse Eisenberg anyway. XP
- Tried to go to a screening of The Help on Thursday, but sadly it was full and we were turned away. =(
- Quick Project Runway ramble: I really liked the top two dresses this week, but I kind of thought the bird seed dress should have won over Olivier's. I mean, Olivier's looked good too, but the fit kind of sucked, especially the top. I do think that Olivier is kind of adorable though, lol. He just seems so nice and he has that cute accent! XP

It's been a while since I last posted! IDK, I always have moments where I'm like, "Oh, I will post about this or that!" and then when I actually get back to the computer, I totally forget about it -- you know how it is. XP But seriously, I've been living a pretty laid back and boring life since I'm done with school and am just looking for a job. (Job searching sucks, yo.) Anyway, let's do this in bullets! More things will probably come to me that way. XD
So that's pretty much it for now...
- JOB HUNTING!
So this is probably more difficult than expected probably because there simply aren't that many jobs for me here in SD and when I do find something relivant, they want experience. I mean, I probably would have more options if I branched out, but I just don't have the money to move/live somewhere else right now. Also, there's the fact that I actually DO want to stay in SD, so yeah. -_- I will just continue looking and hopefully findsomething; at this point, I don't really care if I get a job in an architecture firm, I just want a job somewhere within the construction industry. (And really, I wouldn't mind an administrative assistant job in a construction firm because I am bomb at admin-type stuff and they make more money than I would probably get an entry/junior architect job, lol.) - ACCREDITATIONS/CERTIFICATIONS!
aznearthdragon and I are going to a LEED Green Associate study group thing. First meeting was Tuesday evening, next one is tonight, and then the last two meetings are next week. So yeah, I basically decided yesterday that I was going to take the LEED GA test because I have nothing else to do and it'll probably help me find a job. I'm thinking that August would be a good time to take it -- one month to study, lol. It would be tempting to put it off for more study time, but really, I don't know how to study like that. If I took longer than a month on studying, I feel like I'll probably just forget stuff from the beginning and it'd be an endless cycle. Hopefully I pass on the first try b/c I don't want to pay to take it a second time!
In the same vein, I also decided that I'm just gonna suck it up and take the CDT at the end of September! I've seriously been putting that one off for too long, I should have done it last year, but I didn't end up studying. x_x Anyway, I was looking it up and apparently this upcoming test will be switching to the new material and I am kind of annoyed because I already bought the PRM before and I don't really want to buy the new book that this test will be based off of. I'm still trying to decide if it's worth it to buy the new book ($75) or just study off of what I have and hope that it's good enough to pass. Whatever, I suppose I will just study off what I have for now until I get to the point when I'm too freaked out about possible outdated material -- if I don't get to that point, then I won't buy the book, LOL. XP - LULU!
So Lulu.com is having a First Book Free sale going on until the end of July, which I only found out about yesterday (sadness, I had half a month I could have been dedicating to this!), so now I'm actually motivated to make my thesis book which our class didn't have to make! Seriously, I'm kind of bummed that I didn't actually make a book (not that I want to turn in a book, but you know, it would have been nice to have been forced to do it so I would have something), but now that I can get it for free, I have motivation again to actually do it! Hopefully I'll be able to get it all done and have it look good. Also, I need to fix up my portfolio a bit, then I'll probably publish that too just so I can get a free copy of it. XP - FRIENDS WITH BENEFITS!
Moving on from boring life stuff, last weekaznearthdragon and I went to a screening of Friends With Benefits and it is super hilarious. This seems to be the year for friends with benefits kind of thing since No Strings Attached came out earlier in the year too, but I haven't seen that. Justin Timberlake and Mila Kunis seems to be a better couple (to me) than Ashton Kutcher and Natalie Portman anyway. XP (But how confusing is it that the other movie was called No Strings Attached and JT wasn't in it?!) Anyway, I'll just say that the trailer (linked above) is pretty much a collection of almost all of the amazingly hilarious (and embarrassing) scenes from the movie. (Sadly, the scene with the mom on the guy was left out which is sad because how awesome (and embarrassing) would that moment have been?!)
So, you know, if you are inclined to watch ridiculous rom-coms, you should definitely check it out when it comes out later in July. (Or you can try and get into a screening of it because getting to watch movies for free before they come out is obviously the best way to watch movies, right? XP)
And for the people who have already seen it... ( I have a question! ) - GOOGLE+!
So the other day, Google+ was unveiled! It looks pretty cool -- I really want an invite to try it out, lol. The thing that sounds the most cool to me is the Hangouts thing because that just sounds like an awesome idea and way better than regular video chat in that I am actually likely to use it, as opposed to regular video chat, which I can honestly say I've only used twice in my life (first was to test out my webcam when I got this laptop, since my old one didn't have a webcam, and second so one of my friends could test out the Google video chat since he never tried it before). So yeah, if any of you guys have one, please send an invite my way and I'd be eternally grateful! ♥♥ - COACH PURSE!
Tuesday before going to the LEED GA meeting, aznearthdragon and I went to meet one of my cousins so she could give us our graduation gifts.
aznearthdragon's is the same, but in brown/beige.
It's nice, but I don't really know when I would use it because I'm not really into designer stuff and I buy, like, cheap purses, LOL. Like, the green one that I've been using (that I posted before in the bag meme way back when) was $5.70 on clearance at Kohl's! But whatever, new purse! =)
So that's pretty much it for now...
Sleep is awesome.
May. 26th, 2011 09:05 amI have five minutes before I need to leave and get back to studio, so a quick update!
Okay, my five minutes are up -- gotta get back to work!
- I am not dead (yet)!
- I am still working like a crazy person and my sleep schedule is totally messed up.
- I just got the BEST SLEEP EVER last night for a glorious 10.5 hours (after 34 hours of working without a nap ;_;)! I was suppose to wake up earlier to work, but honestly, I don't regret it at all.
- Gonna pull another all-nighter tonight. ;_____;
- To do (still): finish my posters, build a model, finish my section model.
- I'm scheduled to print at 5:30PM on Friday.
- Set up is Friday. Show is this weekend. My parents are coming on Saturday morning. ♥ But they're probably going to show up way too early, which means I won't get to sleep as much as I want. =/
