Cal Poly New Student Welcome Event

Woke up today kinda late and got ready to walk. I didn't want to go, but yeah.. ended up going anyway. Walked there, two rounds, then went home. After that, just ate, looked at the ads from the newspaper, and went on the computer. Around 11:45, me and aznearthdragon left for the New Student Welcome Event at Woodstock Pizza. It was very crowded there.. Hard to get food. The food was.. eh. And yeah.. Everyone was white, basically.. There were only a handful of non-white people.. The only person I really met was this girl we sat with named Jeri. She graduated from Mt. Carmel and is a Chemistry major.

After eating, they talked about the school and people asked questions.. That's about all we did the whole time until a little before 2:30, when it was over. After that, went home and saw that our parents and brother left to shop without us. -_- Just went on the computer.. Later, my parents called and said they were at the Grossmont Shopping Center place and that's not fair 'cause I wanted to go. =(

They bought me a small vacuum to take with me, some notebooks, and they bought some shoes (for my mom). Darn it! Me and aznearthdragon missed our chance to buy shoes 'cause they bought two pair since it was buy one get one half off.. ARGH. I could have gotten something cute and non-sporty, haha. Not like I've ever gotten those kinds of shoes, but there's a first time for everything. Oh wellz..

Computers and the Internet

I've decided that I'd try to write about some random thing everyday, since my entries are usual dull with my boring life. I figure, I can give insight to my weird thoughts, haha. I mean, I always tell myself to write about some stuff, but I never have time, but I'll make time to write about all these things that I talk to aznearthdragon about or think about when I'm in the shower or in bed or whatever... So here's my first topic for this.. Computers. Be aware, my mind makes weird jumps because one thought triggers another and suddenly we'll be talking about something completely not related, haha.

I remember when I was little, like.. early elementary school years and how the computers were back then. I mean, back then at school, we had Apple computers. You remember, right? The old-school Apples.. They didn't really do all that much and they took the big floppy disks -- the ones that were actually FLOPPY, not the 3.5" floppys that aren't really that floppy.. But yeah.. I remember playing those dumb math games on them for class.. Damn, how I loved those, haha. But yeah.. Old computers.. And then, I remember around fourth and fifth grade, suddenly the school upgraded and they had computers like now. =O And it was just so cool and you could go on the internet and use Word and stuff.. That was like whoa, haha. And I remembered how everyone played on Candystand 'cause that was the shit at the time.. Haha, those were the days.. And yeah. I dunno.. It's just crazy how technology changes...

I remember how I was so envious of everyone 'cause all my friends had computers back then and we didn't until around sixth grade.. And even then, we didn't have internet, haha. Those were the days.. And then one day in the middle of seventh grade or so, my mom gave us NetZero. That was during the time when it was still FREE, so we used that. And then suddenly, it wasn't free anymore and we searched up more free dial-ups and did that for a while.. Probably until the end of eighth grade or so.. Then we had AOL ((sucked ass)) and then later changed to Cox. Wow.. I feel kinda old thinkin' back.

But yeah.. What I'm trying to say is.. Isn't it weird how technology advances? And we don't even think about it, ya know? Like, there's an upgrade here, a change there, and when you look back after as short as a few months, suddenly everything's different and you wonder how time flies.. One day, it's floppy disks, then CDs and CD-ROMs, and now DVDs.. And it's just like.. what next? What do we need to spend more money on once the new thing becomes the shit?

I'd continue on, but I know that it'll lead to talking about music and such and that's not related to today's.. Well, it is, but I think I'll do that tomorrow. XP
