"You might see gay and lesbian people."
Dec. 28th, 2006 08:34 pmI totally forgot to mention this yesterday, but it's too good to pass up posting about, so...
So yesterday, when we were waiting for a table at Rancho's, out of no where, Lilian says, "You might see gay and lesbian people" to us. I don't know if that was like, a warning type thing, like we'd be offended by gay people or something, but yeah. And it was so random and, I don't know. Just pure weirdness. I just answered back with an, "Okay" and, because it was so left field, I started scanning the people in the place, trying to see if there were any people that could potentially be gay, you know, 'cause it's just such a weird thing to say without prompting, but I didn't see anyone would could even be gay because there were only old couples or families, so it's like.. 'Uhhhh.. Where'd that come from?' kinda thing.
And.. yeah. That was very random and I guess she was trying to warn us, just in case we happened to encounter gay people, so we wouldn't be rude or something. @_@ And yes, that was just mildly hilarious to me, not that I laughed or anything when we were there, but yeah.. And
aznearthdragon totally told me that she was searching for the gay people too after that comment, lol.
I also liked how, when we got into Hilcrest, Lilian was all like, "Welcome to Hilcrest, San Diego's gay community", like it was news, or at least like she was trying to show us that she's not discriminant towards gays or something. I don't know.. Or maybe she was trying to act like it wasn't a big deal when, in fact, it IS a big deal to her and she's trying to show that it doesn't bother her when it does? I don't know. I just don't see what the big deal is, that she just had to say that and the whole, "You might see gay and lesbian people" thing. I mean, seriously? Why bring it up unless it was a big deal? I dunno.
